The Brothers of Lambda
Theta Phi congratulates Dr. Phillip A. Hernandez,
PhD, CCC-SLP/L, founding brother of Theta Chapter at The Richard Stockton
College of New Jersey.
Dr. Hernandez earned his doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from
Arcadia University in May 2008, after successfully defending his dissertation
which was entitled "School-Based Speech-Language Pathologists' Reflections on
their Diagnostic Practices with Latino Students".
Dr. Hernandez has been a Board Certified member of the American
Speech-Language-Hearing Association since 1992. As a bilingual
(English/Spanish) Speech-Language Pathologist, Dr. Hernandez works as an
independent contractor with INVO Healthcare Associates Inc., Bi-lingual
Therapy Solutions, Inc., and appointed with the School District of
Philadelphia where he provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to the
Latino population in Philadelphia. Furthermore, he has worked in various
educational and medical settings with a wide variety of clients, ranging
from preschoolers to geriatric patients.
Dr. Hernandez's specialty and primary research interests are in the
diagnostic and treatment of culturally and linguistically diverse
individuals with communication disorders, and language skills of children
from low-income backgrounds. Dr. Hernandez plans to continue conducting
research in his areas of interest at LaSalle University as a professor in the
Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Science.
Dr. Hernandez has been received numerous awards such as the Manchester Who's
Who Among Executives and Professionals in Speech and Language Healthcare and
Human Wellness, Outstanding Young Men of America, Kappa Delta Pi
International Honors Society in Education, and Who's Who Among Students in
American Universities & Colleges, for his academic excellence, contribution
to the field of Speech-Language Pathology and service to the Latino
community.
